A.P. Giannini

The Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center (SNBC) is a community-based organization serving San Francisco’s Sunset District. Our mission is to provide supports and opportunities to ensure the healthy development of children, youth, and adults. Our purpose is to connect people to their passion, potential, and community. Every day, SNBC offers numerous high quality, free programs to 1,150 youth and adults on San Francisco’s west side. SNBC’s hub site is at A.P. Giannini Middle School and in addition it runs satellite programs at several other school sites.

  • Daily afterschool programs for elementary and middle school-age youth: Our programs provide academic help, recreational playtime, and hands-on project-based learning clubs such as Girls’ and Boys’ Sports, Gardening, Hip-Hop Dance, and Cooking.
  • Sunset Media Wave: A program to help young adults work collaboratively and develop leadership and teamwork skills while engaging in media arts.
  • Summer: Our summer programs combine hands-on learning with structured recreational activities. Our elementary program features daily science and literacy classes in addition to recreation and enrichment activities. Our middle school program features a wide range of project-based learning, including SNBC’s Urban Music Program, art, sports, and technology clubs.

  • Evening programs: SNBC offers a wide range of classes for community members in the evenings, including art, technology, and recreation activities.
  • Sunset Family Resource Collaborative: The SFRC provides vital family support services including parenting classes, support groups, educational workshops, parent and child interactive activities, and case management.
