Dianna Caracoza, Beacon Director at Bryant Beacon Community School

Dianna is a native of Southern California. She attended the University of California Riverside where she received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and in Women’s Studies. While attending UC Riverside she worked on campus as an academic counselor, where she found her passion for helping students succeed. After graduating she moved to San Francisco and attended San Francisco State and earned her Masters in Education with an emphasis in Social Justice and Equity. Through her years in San Francisco she has worked for several organization with the mission of supporting students academically, such as AVID, SF Promise, and Everyday Magic. In 2014 she was hired as an after school teacher with Mission Graduates at Marshall Elementary where she worked for two years before becoming the Program Director for Bryant Elementary. Even though she is not a San Francisco native, she loves working with the students and parents of the Mission. They have become family away from home.

Here are some appreciations from her Executive Director, and the San Francisco Beacon Initiative:

“Dianna, with her background and experience in education, bring a wealth of knowledge to her role as Beacon Director. Committed to improving the English development and literacy skills of our English Language Learners, she is tireless in decreasing the educational achievement gap for our students. With her infectious energy, and strategic eye to partnerships, she has quickly become an essential part of the Bryant Community.” – Eddie Kaufman, Executive Director of Mission Graduates

“Dianna’s confidence shines through in all of her activities. She brings great experience in her school and community to the Beacon Network, as well as excellent Talent Show co-hosting abilities. We are lucky to work with her!” – Sally Jenkins-Stevens, Associate Director of SFBI

Thank you for your dedication, Dianna!
