OMI/Excelsior Beacon Center

OMIE - summer

The OMI/Excelsior Beacon Center is a community center dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth and families by providing educational, recreational, enrichment and supportive services.

Established in 1999, the OMI/Excelsior Beacon Center is located inside James Denman Middle School and serves the neighboring communities of Oceanview, Merced Heights, Ingleside, Excelsior and District 11.


  • Middle School – Academic support, enrichment, and recreation: Science Action Club, cooking classes, technology classes, skateboarding, visual arts, scrapbooking, gardening
  • High School – Academic support, enrichment, and recreation: 3D printing, dance, gardening, JROTC, print shop, wood shop, and more.
  • Workforce development
  • Wellness services (therapy, case management)
