Amelia grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and attended Grinnell College in Iowa, where she majored in Sociology and Environmental Studies. After college Amelia provided case management for homeless adults in Berkeley and San Francisco’s Tenderloin Neighborhood for about four years, then transitioned into a support services management role with Tenderloin Housing Clinic. In 2016, Amelia started a graduate program in Social Welfare, with a concentration in management and planning, at UC Berkeley. While at Berkeley, she focused on school-based youth program development, working with Aspire Public Schools, The UC Berkeley Public Service Center, and The Alameda County Center for Healthy Schools and Communities. Amelia graduated with her MSW degree in May, 2018 and joined the Presidio YMCA in June. She is excited to develop great programs for Marina students along with her fantastic Marina Beacon team!
Here are some appreciations from her Director, and the San Francisco Beacon Initiative:
“Amelia has hit the ground running, tackling challenges head on and with a great attitude! This will be an amazing year for Marina!” – Jenna Strouth, Senior Director of Presidio YMCA
“It has been a pleasure getting to know Amelia and her leadership style! She is down to earth, patient, and very intelligent. She strives for high quality programming and works hard to gather as much information as she can to better serve her school. I am excited to see what she will accomplish this school year!” – Erica Hernandez, Program Manager of SFBI
We appreciate you and your hard work, Amelia!
