Bayview Beacon
Summer is B.A.E.!

More Information: This summer the Bayview Beacon will offer a variety of drop-in enrichment programs to high schoolers. These programs will provide youth a safe space and active, engaging and fun activities that will expose youth to new experiences and help them build new skills.

More Information: Wanna get paid this summer? Come work with the Bayview Beacon and learn what it takes to become a youth developer by serving as an assistant facilitator in one of the Bayview Beacon’s middle school or elementary school programs.

More Information: Create captivating and empowering media and broadcast production projects around social justice issues of our choice. Tell your story through your own lens. Learn the tools of media and broadcast production to positively enhance your life. Together, we will produce a live radio show, and dive into photographic and digital documentaries.

Summer Legacy
Location: Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Middle School – 350 Girard St, San Francisco, CA 94134

More Information: The Bayview Beacon’s Summer Legacy program is an enrichment program for middle school students. For the first half of the program, participants will have have the opportunity to engage in a variety of fun and educational enrichment opportunities, including sports, art, technology and engineering, and cooking. For the second half of the program, participants will have the opportunity to design their own summer program by working in teams to plan ways to have an impact on their communities. We will also be taking weekly field trips!


Mission Beacon
Location: Everett Middle School – 450 Church St, San Francisco, CA 94114
Dates: June 6 – July 14
Times: 9 am to 4 pm
Grades: 6th through 8th
Fees: $100/entire duration

Collaboration between Everett Middle School and the Mission Beacon.

The first half of the day (9:00am to 12:00pm) will consist of academics and will be taught by credentialed teachers. One goal of this portion of the day is assist our ELL students in math and language arts. Students being recruited for this are those two to three years behind grade level. All students welcome.

Second half of the day (12:00pm to 4:00pm)  will be supervised and facilitated by the Mission Beacon. This programming will include ethnic studies, DCYF Math Pilot, Girls Group, BSU (Black Student Union), and a variety of enrichment and recreational programming.

OMIE Beacon Urban Explorers Summer Camp
Location: Balboa High School – 1000 Cayuga Ave, San Francisco, CA 94112
Dates: May 31st to July 15th
Time: 9 AM to 3 PM
Fee: Free
To Register: Come to our Community and Family Resource Fair at James Denman Middle School on April 9th from 10 AM to 2 PM (After 4/9th, registration will occur in our office at 241 Oneida Avenue, Room 181)
Ages: Rising 6th to Rising 10th, plus High School aged youth for volunteer opportunities
Description: 7 weeks summer program with a focus on themed project based activities, team building, international exploration, field trips, sports, STEAM, arts (culinary, fine, applied, performing) and much more!

OMIE’s Balboa Project Summer
Location: Balboa High School – 1000 Cayuga Ave, San Francisco, CA 94112
Dates: May 31st to July 15th
Time: 10 AM to 3 PM
Fee: Free
To Register: Come to our Walk for Literacy Event at Balboa HS’s Football Field on March 26th from 10 AM to 2 PM or Community and Family Resource Fair at James Denman Middle School on April 9th from 10 AM to 2 PM (Regular registration will occur in our Bal Afterschool Program Office at 1000 Cayuga Avenue, Room 28)
Ages: 9th-12th grade
Description: 7 weeks summer program with themed project based activities, team building, field trips, etc!


Richmond Village Beacon
Location: George Washington High School – 600 32nd Ave, San Francisco, CA 94121
Dates: June 8 – July 15
Times: 10 am to 4 pm
Grades: 1st through 12th
Fees: Elementary and Middle School Participants are $100/week. High School Participants are free.

More Information: Camp SNBC is a comprehensive summer program offering a variety of fun educational ativities ranging from daily science, literacy, art and recreation classes to weekly enrichment offerings including cooking, hip hop dance, and gardening.

More Information: amp SNBC (Middle School) is a comprehensive summer program serving rising 6th-8th grade students. The program will feature a variety of hands-on learning activities ranging from art, academics, cooking, science, dance and more! On the first day, students will have the opportunity to choose the club of their choice within Active, Academic, and Artistic club offerings.

Western Addition Beacon – The Summer of your Dreams
Location: John Muir Elementary School – 380 Webster St, San Francisco, CA 94117
Dates: June 6 – July 22
Times: 9 am to 6 pm (w/ extended 7-9 am care hours)
Grades: Kindergarten through 8th
Fees: Free
Registration: Applications can be picked up  and returned at John Muir Elementary or the Buchanan YMCA starting March 7th; applications can also be downloaded from the Beacon website and returned via email, fax, or in person.
More Information: Programming will include an academic component focused around literacy and mathematics to help prevent summer learning loss; a STEM component focusing on innovation and engineering; and a enrichment component that will include arts, theater, sports, and dance.


Willie Brown Jr. Middle School Beacon – TBA

More Information: The Beacon Explore! Summer Program at Willie Brown Jr. Middle School gives rising 7th graders the opportunity to try new activities, learn leadership skills and explore the sity of San Francisco . Through project based learning youth will have the chance to develop their artistic abilities, their love of sports, their academic skills, their personal values, and their ability to be self advocates and agents of change in their community.
