PwC’s Access Your Potential Summer Event

SFBI has been very fortunate to have a partnership with PwC for the last few years. They have provided financial literacy curriculum throughout the school year to some of our middle school and high school centers, which involved creating businesses, budgeting, marketing and so much more. They gave our youth opportunities to showcase their talent, knowledge and brilliant ideas. PwC

End of the Year Celebration with BLT Youth

Sadly, BLT Youth wrapped up last month. As we close out this last week of school, we reflect on the fun times we had with this group. These amazing kids built community amongst each other and taught us adults their knowledge and capabilities of their leadership. They always exceeded our expectations in the workshops we held. San Francisco Community Schools Toolkit has been released!

In collaboration with the San Francisco Unified School District, we produced a Community Schools Toolkit that’s full of resources and tools to help any school community move closer to a comprehensive community school model. Many of the resources you will find in the toolkit were adapted from those created over the last decade of Community Schools work in San Francisco.

Maysha Bell, Beacon Director at Willie Brown

Maysha is the Senior Director of Beacon and Youth Services with Bayview YMCA. She joined Buchanan YMCA in 2007. Starting as a Program Coordinator she advanced up the ladder to become Hub Site Program Director and ultimately, the Western Addition Beacon Director at John Muir Elementary School. Her passion, commitment and experience fostered a transition from Western Addition to Bayview

Gina Patterson, Beacon Director of Visitacion Valley

Gina has a diverse background that includes elementary and middle school education as well as program administration. As a native San Franciscan, she attended Aptos Middle School and Lowell High school prior to graduating from the University of California, Davis with a double degree in Psychology and Spanish.
